The Paradise Problem by Christina Lauren (2024)

Firstly, this book is so funny. You have a fake marriage, and a fake dating situation. You have this couple who lived together for years as roommates, and only five years later have a fake being in love in front of his family. If you have tropical Romantic Comedy movies, this book is for you. The forced proximity will drive this couple into each other’s arms for a sibling wedding. I also love this book because of the funny, quirky, and down to earth female lead, Anna. Then, you have the level headed male lead, Liam. This book gives me all the giggles. This is my favorite Christina Lauren book 😀

Anna Green thought she was marrying Liam “West” Weston for access to subsidized family housing while at UCLA. She also thought she’d signed divorce papers when the graduation caps were tossed, and they both went on their merry ways.

Three years later, Anna is a starving artist living paycheck to paycheck while West is a Stanford professor. He may be one of four heirs to the Weston Foods conglomerate, but he has little interest in working for the heartless corporation his family built from the ground up. He is interested, however, in his one-hundred-million-dollar inheritance. There’s just one catch.

Due to an antiquated clause in his grandfather’s will, Liam won’t see a penny until he’s been happily married for five years. Just when Liam thinks he’s in the home stretch, pressure mounts from his family to see this mysterious spouse, and he has no choice but to turn to the one person he’s afraid to introduce to his one-percenter parents — his unpolished, not-so-ex-wife.

But in the presence of his family, Liam’s fears quickly shift from whether the feisty, foul-mouthed, paint-splattered Anna can play the part to whether the toxic world of wealth will corrupt someone as pure of heart as his surprisingly grounded and loyal wife. Liam will have to ask himself if the price tag on his flimsy cover story is worth losing true love that sprouted from a lie.

Funny Story by Emily Henry (2024)

Well, faking dating tropes makes it better, right? What if you fake date your Ex’s EX! Well, you get this novel. You have these two broken people that get together, mostly for companionship at first, but love will find its way. I really love this book because these two leads, Daphne, and Miles have normal jobs. They could be real people. How they bond over the Michigan summer, and how this book takes on their journey of healing and finding one’s worth is amazing. This book might get silly at times, mostly because of the small town setting, but there are scenes that live rent free in my head. I just smile when I think of this book. Again, my favorite Emily Henry.

Daphne always loved the way her fiancé, Peter, told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it… right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.

Which is how Daphne begins her new story: stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.

Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned-up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?

But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex… right?

This book is Goodreads Choice Award Winner for Favorite Romance in 2024. Also, Goodreads Favorite Audiobook of 2024.

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood (2021)

Maybe, I find faking dating swoon worthy because this is my third recommendation. I love this story because Olive Smith is a badass for me. A woman in STEM, who is taking charge of her research and finding love. I want to say more about how I love this book, but I don’t want to spoil any of it. Let’s say it all starts with a kiss. Also, her yearning for the male Lead, Adam, is fantastic.

As a third-year Ph.D. candidate, Olive Smith doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships—but her best friend does, and that’s what got her into this situation. Convincing Anh that Olive is dating and well on her way to a happily ever after was always going to take more than hand-wavy Jedi mind tricks: Scientists require proof. So, like any self-respecting biologist, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees.

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor—and well-known ass. Which is why Olive is positively floored when Stanford’s reigning lab tyrant agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend. And when a big science conference goes haywire, putting Olive’s career on the Bunsen burner, Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support and even more unyielding. . . six-pack abs.

Suddenly their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion. And Olive discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope.

This book was a Goodreads Choice Award nominee for Romance 2021.

Overruled by Lana Ferguson (2025)

I think there is something about a man, who in the world he is a red flag, but to you he is a green flag. You have two lawyers, Danica Pierce and Ezra Hart, who are friends with benefits already, but when she gets her biggest case against him… the tension. There is something about being in bed with the enemy, and all the tension. They have to be enemies in the courtroom, but in secret they are lovers. AND, he wants HER heart!!! It’s like a forbidden romance situation. Also, he protects her outside of the courtroom too!!!!

Danica Pierce has one great love in her life: work. As one of the top divorce lawyers in Austin, Danica lets her caseload keep her warm at night and has no problem being married to her job, not when love only ends in hurt. When the biggest case of her career gives her a shot at making partner, it seems like nothing could possibly stand in her way…except for her infuriating secret: she’s sleeping with the enemy.

Ezra Hart is known for charming his way in and out of a courtroom. In the matter of winning Danica Pierce’s heart, however, he’s been far less successful. With her verdict to keep things purely physical with no chance of appeal, Ezra struggles to show Danica he’s more than the insufferable playboy she’s pegged him to be—especially since they find themselves on opposing sides of Danica’s most important case to date.

While Dani and Ezra battle it out in the courtroom, the real trial is the one happening between them. When Dani realizes that everything she knows of Ezra might be hearsay—and that she’s not the only one with emotional baggage—she must choose between her fear of trusting again and the feelings blossoming between her and the man she thought was her worst enemy.

When in Rome by Sara Adams (2022 - )

Firstly, this woman, Sarah Adams, knows how to write tension, and funny scenes. Each book has at least a scene where as a reader you can laugh out loud (LOL) in person. If you think of your favorite Romantic Comedy movie, this series will be good for you. Plus, the first two books in the series have no spice. The latter two have little spice scenes. I couldn’t just pick my favorite out of this series, they are in my heart forever. Each character has their worries, and troubles, but Sarah Adams writes like they are real. Maybe not all the situations. I also love the sibling bonding in this series. This series ended in 2025, and Me, Angel Skye, is heartbroken.

Book 1: When in Rome (2022)

Book 2: Practice Makes Perfect (2023)

Book 3: Beg, Borrow, or Steal (2025)

Book 4: In Your Dreams (2025)

Rome, Kentucky is the setting of this book series. The first book follows the Eldest Brother, Noah Walker, and his romance with pop princess Amelia Rose, or known as “Rae Rose”. Amelia’s car breaks down outside of Noah’s home, and as a county gentleman, he helps her. He lets her stay until her car is fixed, then she is on her own. But, of course this close proximity does wonders with their romance. Noah sees a side of Amelia then her counterpart, Rae Rose. Amelia can’t resist falling for the cozy town, and her grumpy tour guide, but she has to leave Rome eventually…

The second book follows Annie Walker, the youngest in the sibling group. She runs the local flower shop. Everyone knows everything about Annie, and she wants help with dating, so she asks Will Griffin. Will is the sexy, tattooed, and hot bodyguard of Amelia. He is in town for work, but only for a month. He will help Annie with getting out in the dating scene, but with all these steamy practices and dates and “educational” tutoring lessons, can each separate feelings or lust? Their friendship will become dangerously blurred. Annie’s love life doesn’t need to be perfect, can it be real…

The third book follows Emily Walker. The eldest daughter of the Walker siblings. She is a local elementary teacher, who is a Type A personality. When her legendary nemesis, Jack Bennett comes back to Rome, her life is uprooted again. Jack is also her new neighbor, who just called off a wedding. Their chemistry is fueled with animosity and tension…. But when Emily accidentally sends an email to their school’s principal that will reveal a secret, she asks Jack for help. Jack agrees. Their alliance will put away their rivalry, and together they will find something exciting for both of them. Closer they get to each other, secrets, and passion will be left wide open, like a novel.

The final book follows Madison Walker. The middle daughter of the group. Some say she is the crazy, loud, and rule breaker one. She lives in the moment. But, she left Rome to follow her dream to become a chef in New York City. Burned out and shattered, she needs a fresh start. From an accidental call to James Huxley, older brother’s best friend, she is given an opportunity of a lifetime, head chef in James’s restaurant. James runs the family, who is getting into red. He is stressed and this restaurant is his Hail Mary for business. But, James has been in love with Madison for years, and even if it means he is only her friend. Can Madison and James face their biggest insecurities, can they hide their feelings of each other, and can they succeed?
